Celebrating National Pork Month

A delicious and healthy protein

Ham it up for National Pork Month — Virginia joins the national celebration this October as Virginia’s hogs rank 14th among our top commodities with an economic impact of $44 million.

A nutrient-rich protein pork provides protein, vitamins and three times the thiamin as any other food. Did you know that pork is naturally low in sodium and is a good source of potassium? When coupled together, these two nutrients can help regulate blood pressure. Be sure to add pork to your tailgate menu this football season.

Our pork producers are stewards of the land, incorporating best management practices into their daily operations.
