GENTLEMEN, START YOUR GRILLS! The Gaff-n-Go Lineman's Rodeo has become fairly popular in the electric cooperative world, but there's another competition that happens during the Gaff-n-Go that many may not know about. It's the GAFF-N-GRILL, a time for competitors to fire up the grill for some smoking hot competition! Utilities participating in the Gaff-n-Go event sign up teams, come up with catchy names for their group, and then get grilling! Teams consist of a grill master and assistants. These teams use their own tools and grills, and their grilled delicacies are the main course at the complimentary Gaff-n-Grill Dinner. Here's a look at the 2019 Gaff-n-Grill, where Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, Prince George Electric Cooperative, Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, NOVEC and Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative took home awards. And you have to check out the unique smoker used by Community Electric Cooperative's team of grillers!
While playing a round of disc golf at Franklin Park in Purcellville, VA, Terrie Keeney and her husband, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative members, happened across this turtle. The humor in the situation was not lost on them. "We don't know if he was first or last, but he made it!" she writes. So the motivational message for today is SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!
