Cooperative Connection: SEC Focuses on Members, Local Communities

by Jason C. Loehr, President & CEO

This time of year is always filled with excitement, joy and anticipation. As you are hanging Christmas decorations and lighting up your homes for the holiday season, know that there is a local engine made up of 140 people working around the clock to power the festivities.

At Southside Electric Cooperative, we pride ourselves on actively contributing to the communities we serve. During this time of year, we are donating to local food banks, participating in Christmas parades, donating time and money to different holiday events around our 18-county region, contributing to various regional Thanksgiving meal programs and more.

One of the primary benefits of receiving power from an electric cooperative is knowing that the money made goes right back into the pockets of its member-owners. is time of year is a special time for many of our Southside Virginia homes and businesses.

At Southside Electric, we are proud of our history of returning money back to our members, and we look forward to another Christmas season when your Board of Directors has once again approved a generous return of capital.

For 2023, a $2 million return of capital was approved, and those eligible for a refund will receive this money over the next month.

During this time of giving, I would like to express my gratitude for the trust that you place in Southside Electric Cooperative to deliver power to the homes and businesses of Southside Virginia.

May each of you and your families have a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
