Local faces in Iconic Thanksgiving Parade

Liberty High School’s cheerleading squad will travel to New York City to participate in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 23. Coach Alicia Schrank expressed appreciation for NOVEC’s donation to the Bealeton school’s team, which was made through the Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation. The contribution will help pay for 15 students and five coaches to make the trip. “Liberty Cheer is so excited for our once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York City,” Schrank said. “Thank you NOVEC for supporting Liberty Cheer, and please look for us on Nov. 23!” The parade will be broadcast on NBC and on Peacock, from 9 a.m. to noon.

In 2022, Liberty’s 47-member squad earned the district championship and placed second in the region. The athletes also placed third in the Virginia High School League Cheerleading Championships.
