“If you have the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed.” – David Viscott

June Issue Super Sleuth

The June Super Sleuth asked you to awaken your inner explorer. For a chance to win a $25 Amazon email gift card, kids were asked: to find the page number of the special flag, and research and explain the meaning of the flag, including the yellow symbol.

The correct answers are:
 •Page 13
The ecology flag is from the 1970s and is used as a sign of people’s commitment to clean up the environment. It was patterned after the U.S. flag with 13 stripes alternating green and white, with green representing unspoiled land and white representing clean air.
The yellow symbol is a combination of “e” for environment and “o” for organism.

Our winner is Lily Atkinson of Suffolk, Va. Congratulations, Lily!

The Kids Korner submissions are for children under the age of 16.
