SEC Line Techs Display Skills at Rodeo

Six Southside Electric Cooperative lineworkers competed and judged at the International Lineman’s Rodeo in Kansas last fall.

The annual event brings together lineworkers from across the United States and other countries who work for investor-owned, municipal and military utilities, contractors and electric cooperatives. More than 1,300 line technicians participated in the October event. They competed in activities like the
work they do every day.

SEC’s Hunter Cline, Will Southworth and Jeremy Warden competed as a journeyman team and finished 160th out of 292 three-member squads. They were 28th among 50 electric cooperative teams. Cody Roark finished 228th out of 440 apprentices, including 39th in the hurt man rescue event and 88th in pole climbing. He was 28th out of 85 cooperative apprentices.

SEC’s Kinte Robinson and Tommy Byrd helped judge the competition
