Tutti-Fruity Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 banana, peeled

¼ cup fresh or frozen blueberries

¼ cup sliced fresh or frozen strawberries

¾ cup vanilla soy milk or milk

½ cup pomegranate-blueberry, pomegranate, grape or cranberry juice, chilled

½ cup vanilla frozen yogurt or pineapple sherbet

Directions: In a blender container, combine banana, berries, milk, juice and yogurt or sherbet. Cover and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses. Makes 2 servings.

Editor’s Note: For a healthy alternative, replace frozen yogurt with Greek yogurt.

Breakfast Smoothie

Ingredients:

6 oz. raspberry yogurt

⅔ cup orange juice

1 medium banana, cut into chunks

1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries

½ cup frozen blueberries

½ cup fresh spinach

3 baby carrots

Directions: ln a blender, combine all ingredients; secure lid and blend until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses; serve immediately. Yields 1-2 servings.

Note: Adjust ingredients and quantities according to personal taste.

Refreshing Cantaloupe Smoothie

Ingredients:

5 oz. cantaloupe juice

1 sliced banana

4 oz. plain nonfat yogurt

1 tablespoon honey

Directions: Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add additional cantaloupe juice if needed for desired consistency.

Tasty Tomato Smoothie

Ingredients:

8 oz. tomato juice

4 oz. plain nonfat yogurt

2 oz. chopped cucumber

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil

3 or 4 dashes of Tabasco sauce

Directions: Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until mixed well. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Garnish with a celery stalk.
