VMDAEC Educational Scholarship Foundation
The Educational Scholarship Foundation awards
$1,000.00 scholarships. A combination of weighted criteria is used in
the selection process:
40% financial need; 40% academic
achievement; and 20% personal statement.
Funds can be applied towards tuition,
student fees, room and board, or textbooks.
The primary residence of applicant's parent or legal
guardian must receive its electric power from one of the
15 member electric cooperatives served by Virginia,
Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives

school or home school in 2015. You must be
Applicant must be entering his or her first semester at
a college or technical/trade school in fall 2015.
In 2014, the VMDAEC Educational Scholarship
Foundation received 364 applications from students in areas served by 15
electric cooperatives in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.
From these, the Foundation selected 55
applicants to receive Worth M. Hudson Scholarships in the amount of
$1,000 each, four applicants to receive the C. D Hypes Memorial Fund in
the amount of $1,000 each, and two applicants to receive the James C.
Tennant Memorial Fund in the amount of $1,000 each for a total of 61
scholarships. Over the past 14 years, 470 students have received a
VMDAEC Educational Scholarship.
